Meet Giavonia Lopez, Mental Health Therapy Intern
Giavonia Lopez is a graduate student at Chaminade University of Honolulu. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2014 from Ashford University. She is a member of the United States Air Force and has completed over 11 years of service to our country. As a Master Sergeant in the Air Force, Giavonia has assisted individuals from various multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. She has also helped her airman with a wide range of mental health concerns associated with unforeseen events such as deployments, family separation, military separation, and other stressors related to military life. As a student, she
has assisted individuals who suffered from mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, schizotypal personality disorder, major depressive disorder, stress, anxiety, medication-induced acute dystonia, and substance abuse. She has led classes on suicide, suicide prevention, relapse prevention, healthy relationships, anxiety, mindfulness, anger management, assertiveness, schizophrenia, addiction, medication management,
budgeting, nutrition, stress, and effective communication.
